Something Rotten

Why see Something Rotten?

it's showtime

A ten-time Tony Award-nominated musical, Something Rotten! is the hilarious musical comedy that sees two brothers vie against Shakespeare to create the world's first musical. Full of joy and wit, this riotous hit is a loving send-up of both The Bard's and Broadway's greatest hits, riffing on everything from Hamlet to Les Miserables.

What is the story?

It's tough being a playwright in Elizabethan England, not least because a certain pompous (but honestly rather dashing) rascal called William Shakespeare is hogging all the limelight. Comedies, tragedies, histories...you name it, and he can write it. So what are struggling thesps The Bottom Brothers to do? Well, in their desperation they seek the advice of an aged soothsayer, who advises them to try their hand at a whole new kind of theatrical show - a play that incorporates song and dance numbers!

So the Bottoms begin creating Omelette, the world's first-ever musical. Unfortunately, things don't quite go to plan, especially when that bounder Shakespeare begins poking his nose in.

Hilarious!!!!

I had been anxiously awaiting this show after hearing some of the songs on the Broadway station on Sirius and reading about it. It was even better than I imagined. I want to see it again to see if I catch more of the references to other great Broadway shows. I was laughing so hard I know that I missed some. The cast was very talented in both singing and dancing. Our seats were perfect. I wouldn't take anyone who is offended by spicy language. We ate at Daily Grill in the Hyatt Regency which is just across the parking garage. The food is very good. ... Read more

Dazzling sets and costumes, great score, and lots of laughs. Theater geeks will get all the parodies but everyone of all ages who likes musical theater will be enchanted with this funny, charming show. See it while it's here! ... Read more
